SAYING FAREWELL TO ONE OF THE BEST

Longtime Underwriting Attorney, Greg Miely Retires This Week

One of the most familiar names (and voices) to our agents and their employees, Greg Miely, retires this week after 37 years of service.

Greg started at ATG in 1987 as a Staff Attorney in our Chicago office after spending six years in private practice. A few years later, looking for a shorter commute and gentler lifestyle in which to raise his then 3-year-old son, he and Victor moved to Champaign where they established roots and became a part of the community.

Greg went on to become our longest tenured and most highly respected underwriting attorney, all while wearing several other hats. The latter included a three-year period in the 90s where he worked in IT and learned to code—a mixed blessing, as he was forever tied to fixing assorted ATG REsource problems and offering mid-level IT support.

Known for his encyclopedic knowledge of real estate law and the settlement process, our agents relied heavily on Greg for answers to all the tough questions about underwriting, closing problems, and the 1099 process. His broad-based expertise—from decedents' estates to legal descriptions to surveys—deep respect for the law, pure desire to help others, uncanny ability to absorb and explain information, and nearly photographic memory have been a great asset to our agents and to everyone connected with this organization. And his knowledge is by no means limited to professional endeavors: Greg is a former pilot and aviation buff, avid swimmer and cyclist, and terrific cook.

Greg is also one of our most popular seminar speakers. Lawyers have one more opportunity to hear him speak Wednesday, June 26, as delves into legal descriptions in a program he aptly named, Danger: Curves Ahead - Advanced Legal Descriptions. See below for more information.

We know many of our agents will want to reach out to Greg. Click the blue button to send him a note – his last day is Friday, June 28, 2024.

Greg's retirement is richly deserved, but he will be sorely missed! Thanks for everything, Greg.
